Abstract:
We are interested in discovering how different habitats in the Park of Life influences the insect diversity collected in malaise traps. We hypothesize that a lot of the unique specimens we collect may not be native to SuZhou. We plan to compare and contrast different types of insects by placing the malaise trap in two various locations, one trap nestled in a cluster of trees, and the other trap near the lakefront in the park. Using the malaise trap, a very efficacious method of bug collection that may not have been done before in this park, we want to bring forth to the general public an accurate representation of the diversity in the Park of Life, and grant the audience a closer view to the flying insects in the Park of Life that have not been commonly collected by researchers here in the past.
